Web Development Process:
At DesignJobs Interactive Media our services cover the complete
lifecycle of your web initiative that includes web solutions,
content development, web design and development, technical support,
promotions & maintenance. But in each case we use some standard
steps in building the solution.
Step 1: Investigation
and Research
Step
2: Brief
Compilation Step 3:
Proposal Step 4: Visuals Step 5: Build Step 6: Test Step 7: Launch Step 8: Online
Promotion and Marketing
Step 9: Reporting
and Evaluation
Step 1: Investigation & Research
This stage
allows us to understand your needs and requirements. You have
the opportunity to assess our capabilities, peruse our
portfolio and develop trust. During this stage, the meetings
you have with us are purely to investigate and understand the
overall objectives of your company's business plan and any
future strategies you wish to implement. We spend some time
researching the relevant market place to gain a comfortable
understanding of the opportunities and threats your company
faces.
Step 2: Brief Compilation
Once we
understand your requirements and have done sufficient research
on your business and market place we compile a brief.
At DesignJobs Interactive Media we use a Site Plan to outline the main
areas of the site. We've attached a copy of our proposed plan
to this document. The plan will help to identify where the
existing content fits in and will highlight the areas that
need to be created. At DesignJobs Interactive Media we use it to work out
quotes and use it as reference throughout the life of the
project.
Although this diagram does show the logical
structure of the information, it does not necessarily
represent how content will be displayed on each page. A good
example of this is the Home page. This is the most important
page on the website because it is usually the entry point for
most visitors. This page needs to introduce the products on
sale and carry links to the most important content on the
site. These links can feature sample content or pictures
illustrating the relevant area.
Step 3: Proposal
Once you
are happy with the site plan and strategy, the brief is
finalized and we add the relevant costs for the project. This
document forms our agreement with you and includes a scope of
the proposed work and how we plan to carry out the project.
Once the proposal is agreed, a 10% deposit is
invoiced.
Step 4: Visuals
It is
sometimes difficult to explain how a layout would work in
text. One of the first deliverables from DesignJobs Interactive Media will be
"visuals" of the proposed site. "Visuals" are simply "flat"
layouts showing designed pages from the proposed site.
We use visuals to demonstrate our ideas and show the
first designs for the project. The home page and inside layout
are usually chosen for the purpose and then are used as a
reference for discussion purposes.
Once the visuals
have been accepted, a 40% deposit is invoiced.
Step 5: Build
This is
where all the hard work happens! The design is first turned
into HTML pages which can be viewed through development URL by
you. These are then turned over to our programmer for the
underlying programming and coding.
At DesignJobs Interactive Media we build our sites using the
latest technologies and methods. We are well-versed in building
pages that meet the W3C guidelines for accessibility. Our websites
make use of the latest CSS layout techniques that help to separate
styles from content. The programming work we carry out will
be based on both the Microsoft platform and Open Source platform
with databases built in Access/MYSQL and scripting carried out
in ASP, .NET and PHP.
Step 6: Test
The site
is then tested for its architecture, technical ability and
effective usability. This gives us the confidence that we
are delivering a site to the standards and expectations we
expect from all our work.
Step 7: Launch
At last
the date arrives; we ready to launch your site! A "launch"
involves the action of your site being uploaded onto the
Internet and the relevant domain name being made active.
The remaining 50% invoice is then
invoiced.
Step 8: Online Promotion and Marketing
Now that your website is live
on the internet your job is just about to begin. Attracting
customers to your website is what will make your online
investment worthwhile. DesignJobs Interactive Media offers a complete selection
of online marketing services which bring those much needed
customers to your doorstep. If this area is of interest to you
we will schedule a further meeting after the launch to discuss
your options.
Step 9: Reporting and Evaluation
When we run any form of online
marketing for your website we setup monthly management
meetings with yourself. These meetings involve the
presentation of statistical web traffic reports and then
having a general chat about how we can improve your customer
acquisition.
